VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Practical Action

Practical Action is an International NGO, working in South Asia, Southern and Eastern Africa and Latin America with its Head Office in the UK. It aims to reduce poverty in developing countries - by introducing appropriate technologies for the communities, demonstrating results, sharing knowledge, building capacity to replicate and influencing others for scaling up. Practical Action Nepal Offfice invites applications for the following posts;

1. Project Officer (PO), SAFER Nepal Project

Practical Action in a consortium with Mercy Corps and Oxfam is planning to implement a project titled "Strengthening Actions for Fostering Resilience through Early Warning and Risk Sensitive Planning in Nepal (SAFER Nepal)". The project has aimed to enhance the capacity of community and relevant stakeholders to strengthen and replicate Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Early Warning System (EWS).This position will be based in the Regional Office, Chitwan.

Reporting to the Project Manager, SAFER Nepal, the PO will be responsible to support in planning, implementing and monitoring of project activities, documentation and preparation of reports, conduct meetings/workshops and trainings, build capacity of partners and stakeholders for replication and mainstreaming good practices and liaise and coordinate with stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

❖ Bachelor's degree in disaster management or social science or applied sciences with minimum of three years of work experiences in DRR

❖ Experience in coordination with government, partners and media

❖ Excellent networking, communication and PR skills •> Strong presentation and reporting skills

2. Programme Secretary, Practical Action Nepal Office

Reporting to the Head of Finance, Administration and Personnel, the Programme Secretary will be mainly responsible for administrative and secretarial support to the Programme and Policy and Practices Unit. This position will be based in the Country Office, Kathmandu.

Minimum Qualifications:

❖ The candidate should have an Intermediate Certificate in Management or related field with three years of related work experience in development organisations.
