An International Non-Government Organization (INGO) working in Nepal to support Ministry of Health and Population in improving maternal newborn child health and nutrition and family planning (MNCHN/FP) program, is currently seeking applications from the qualified Nepalese citizens for the Country Director.
The position will be based in Kathmandu with frequent domestic travel. The position is responsible for leading and managing the successful implementation of Jhpiego Nepal country program.
Major Responsibilities:
Foster positive relationships with in-country and regional partners, government officials and USAID officials, under the supervision of the ANE Regional Director and in collaboration with assigned program and technical staff from the field and Baltimore. Country Director Nepal is responsible for leading and coordinating activity programming, action plan formulation, technical assistance to Nepal programs, presentation of Jhpiego's activities in the country, financial oversight, and new business development activities. The Country Director is the primary contact for all information and requests for technical or programmatic assistance for new or ongoing Jhpiego activities in Nepal.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Advance degree in public health or related field
• 10+ years' experience in successful implementation and management of field based international reproductive health and maternal and child health programs within Nepal
• Strong business development experience, including proposal writing and negotiating with Nepal partner organizations
• Technical expertise in two or more of the following areas: maternal, newborn, and child health, reproductive health competency- based training, pre-service education, and quality assurance
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams operating in complex environments
• Thorough understanding of and ability to analyze financial documents, projections, expenditures and accruals
• Knowledge of international and U.S. donor agencies and private sector foundations policies
• Capacity for analyzing technical problems and issues which impede efforts to provide improved health care to populations and ability to develop technical solutions to these problems/issues
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills and the ability to develop innovative country programs
• Excellent skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
