Vacancy at CARE Nepal

CARE Nepal is an international humanitarian organization working in Nepal for the past 35 years It currently works in 47 districts through its 12 projects on issues related to improving the lives of the poor and vulnerable and socially excluded populations. Our programs focus on women empowerment, natural resource environment and livelihood. CARE Nepal hereby invites application from the interested candidates for the following position.

Advocacy and Communications Manager: (1); based In Central Office, Kathmandu.

Key responsibilities: This role is responsible for supporting the advocacy and communication initiatives of CARE Nepal and providing leadership in these areas to the rest of the organization. The Advocacy and Communications Manager will strengthen CARE Nepal’s internal and external communications, support staff and partners in developing program-related communication and advocacy initiatives, and manage the publication of CARE Nepal. S/he will collaborate with others to support the development and implementation of communication and advocacy work to achieve CARE’S organizational objectives. This includes working closely with CARE Nepal program staff, partners, and other CARE International members Qualifications: Master's degree in media, communications, advocacy, sociology, politics or other relevant field with a minimum five years experience in relevant field of work, e.g. communication, journalism, information management, public relations, media, advocacy Skills and knowledge: Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and facilitation skills; Strong coordination, networking and advocacy skills; Excellent verbal and written language skills in both English and Nepali; Good editing skills; Computer skills, including knowledge of relevant software e.g. Microsoft office, photo editing software. Competencies: Communicating and sharing ideas: Interpersonal sensitivity; Influencing; Developing others; Taking initiative; Innovation; Creativity; Excellent Writing; Leadership quality; Planning and organizing; develop and execute work plans effectively; Embracing and Valuing Diversity. This position will report to the CARE Nepal Country Director and is accountable to the CARE Nepal Senior Management Team.
