ICRC humanitarian organization whose mandate is to provide protection and lOriO assistance for victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence has a vacancy for the following position based in Kathmandu:
Protection Secretory -1
Main Responsibilities
• Responsible for filing and keeping accurately the Protection archive
• Responsible for organising and keeping up to date the non-institutional documents
• Ensures a proper flow of information within the department and the field offices
• Ensures that information useful for the Protection department are kept and made available when necessary (follow-up of press articles related to the missing file, follow-up of incidents, circulation of governmental decisions, etc.)
• Responsible for the reception of incoming Red Cross Messages (RCMs), consolidating RCM statistic from the field
• Responsible to open, treat and distribute the incoming Protection mail; responsible to prepare and send the outgoing mail
• Focal point within Protection Department for welcoming Protection visitors at the reception
• Issue, when needed, travel documents, under the supervision of the Data Base Administrator
• Updates Prot5 database, under the supervision of the Data Administrator
• Draft letters or messages for the other delegations, offices, National Societies, NGOs etc.
• Translates all kind of documents from Nepali to English and reverse.
• Treats information (general and specific) with confidentiality and accuracy
• Follows up of tasks of Data Base Administrator in his/her absence
• Responsible for the preparation of the working files related to the Restoring the Family links RFL)/Missing partnership agreement with the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) under the direct supervision of the Protection Assistant
• Differentiates confidential cases and refer them to the Protection Assistant
• Ready to travel for short field trips within Nepal when needed
Minimum required knowledge & experience:
• Secretary diploma
• 3 years work experience in a similar function with international organisation(s)
• Good command of written and spoken English and Nepalese, other national language an asset
• Good command of Nepali typing in Unicode and Preeti
• Good organisational skills,
• Good computer skills (Microsoft Office)
• Ability to display empathy and active listening Personal Qualities:
