Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Nepal is implementing TCP/NEP/3403 Sustainable Management and Development of NWFPs in Terai and Siwalik Regions of Nepal. The project is looking for a qualified Nepalese citizen for the below position:
Lead National Consultant - NWFP program specialist
Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Nepal, coordination of the National Project Coordinator and technical guidance of Forestry Officers of the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, the Lead National Consultant will be responsible for the provision of technical assistance and for advising and assisting the government executing agencies in the overall implementation of the project.
Qualifications and Competencies:
• Masters degree or equivalent in Forestry.
• Excellent skill on report writing and sound knowledge of computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Experience:
At least five years field experience in NTFP production skills, familiarity with sub-sector market and policy issue and its value chain analysis and marketing.
Language: Excellent knowledge of the English and Nepali languages both spoken and written. Duty Station: Kathmandu (with frequent travel to field areas)
Duration: 12 months (spread over the duration of the project)
