The TEVT Soft Skills Project (TSSP) provides technical assistance to the development and piloting of TEVT (Soft Skills) in school education. The aim of the intervention is to support the Ministry of Education to implement the Soft Skills component in the School Sector Reform Plan (SSRP) in Nepal. The funding is a part of the bilateral support provided to Ministry of Education under the country agreement with the Finnish Government. HIFAB, an international consultancy company, is contracted to implement this TA. The purpose of the TSSP is to improve employability of school leavers. This is to be achieved by enhancing the quality and relevance of general education by strengthen the focus on soft and vocational skills in secondary education.
1. Curriculum Development Specialist (1 position)
Duration: 8 months within period of 2 years as per requirement Duty Station: Kathmandu
Qualification/experience: At least Master's degree in Education or vocational related subject. At least 15 years of experiences from work with curriculum development and implementation. Experiences from work with the ongoing Curriculum Reform process and the Curriculum Development Centre (CDC) is an advantage. Knowledge of and preferable experiences from work with the development of Competency Based and Soft Skills focused curriculum development.
Duties/Responsibilities: Form a team with the International Curriculum Development Specialist and the National Technical Advisor to develop capacity for Soft Skills focused curriculum development in CDC. Provide support to the development of soft skills focused curriculum for grade 9 -10, soft skills focused teaching and learning materials, assessment tools and orientation packages. Other tasks relevant to curriculum development and capacity building in CDC.
2. National Short Term Advisor (CBSS (Competence Based Soft Skills focused) Teacher Training Specialist) (1 position)
Duration: 8 months within period of 2 years as per requirement Duty Station: Kathmandu
Qualification/experience: At least Master's degree in Education with 15 years of experiences relevant to the development and provisioning of teacher training programs. Experiences from work with learner centered participatory methodologies. Experiences from work with the National Centre for Education Development (NCED )structures on training program development, training provisioning capacity building. Duties and responsibilities: Development of Soft Skills focused training modules and related materials. Support to training of Teachers, Capacity Building and Institutional Strengthening in NCED and its structures. Other responsibilities as required.
3. National Short Term Advisor (Continued training and Curriculum Implementation Specialist) (1 position)
Duration: 8 months within period of 2 years as per requirement Duty Station: Kathmandu with frequent visit to the working districts Qualification/experience: At least Master's degree in Education, Community Development or general subjects. At least 10 years of experiences from work with capacity building and in-service training at school and district level. Experiences form work with the development of community based partnerships between GO and NGOs'. Confident in the use of action focused methodology in teacher training and institutional strengthening.
Duties/Responsibilities: Develop plans for capacity development at school and districts level, establish supportand monitoring structures; establish structures for action learning and action research, monitoring and documentation and other related responsibilities as agreed upon.
4. National Young Professionals (NYPs) (10 positions)
Duration: 2 years with possibility of extension
Duty station: 10 (NYPs) in 10 districts (Ham, Saptari, Kavre, Bara, Rupandehi, Baglung, Banke, Surkhet, Kailali, and Dadeldhura)
Qualification/experience: At least Bachelor's degree preferable in Education or Social Sciences with 4 years of relevant experiences from teaching, training of trainers or similar. Prior experience working in the indicated districts will be an added advantage.
Duties/Responsibilities: Facilitate the development of school and district level capacity for piloting and implementation of the revised curriculum for grade 9-10; support to development and implementation of district education plans in pilot districts; support to CBSS curriculum in pilot schools in supported districts; planning, monitoring and reporting; other related responsibilities as required.
Excellent communication skills -written and spoken in Nepali and English along with adequate skills in MS Office use, emails and internet is must for all the positions.
