Volunteering opportunity for Youth

Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) is a development organisation that fights poverty through volunteers.
VSO Nepal, in coordination with VSO UK and Sarvodaya Sewasram as implementing partner in funding support from DFID, is implementing International Citizen Service (ICS) programme which promotes intercultural dialogue between young people from the UK and Nepal. It gives 18-25 year olds the chance to spend three months making a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged people.

During this action, the young people will spend 12 weeks in Lamjung, Nepal and will live, learn and volunteer together with their UK fellow volunteers. Through living and working alongside communities, the volunteers gain firsthand knowledge and experience of good practice in development work and are, in turn, able to make practical and meaningful contributions to the communities in which they volunteer.

In the above outset, we are looking for 10 committed, enthusiastic and open minded young Nepalese (aged 18-25) as volunteers, to be part of the International Citizen Service (ICS) Programme. We aim to maintain a ratio of 60:40 (female to male) among the selected candidates.

Requirements:

* Intermediate (10+2) level of education in any discipline (bachelor preferred)

* Good English language skill (speaking, reading and writing)

* Strong Interpersonal skill (working with other stakeholders in community, people from different culture, caste and ethnicity)

* Commitment for development work and can lead by example for youth and the communities (sensitive to others need)

* Strong commitment to complete the entire cycle of programme ( Mar-May 2013)

Please remember:

* This is a Volunteering opportunity (which will provide you opportunity to pave your path in development world) and not a paid job.

* However your food, accommodation (in host home in the community) will be taken care of and you will be provided with nominal allowance during the placement period

Please send your letter of motivation expressing how you meet the requirement stated above along with your curriculum vitae to the following address by Closure of Business 3fd Feb 2013.
Only short listed candidates will be notified for further selection process. Telephone inquiries will not be entertained.
