WaterAid in Nepal (WAN) is an international NGO. It has been working in Nepal since 1987. Its vision is of a world where everyone has access to safe water, and improved sanitation and hygiene (WASH). It emphasises scaling up inclusive, affordable and sustainable (community-run) water supplies, promoting sanitation, improving sustained hygiene behaviours, and increasing advocacy work for responsible WASH governance.
WAN seeks to recruit for the following two positions.
Position 1 : Monitoring and Evaluation Manager
Level : 5
Duration : Two years with an initial probation period of six months
Duty Station : Kathmandu, with regular travel to partners’ offices and to project
sites
Required number: One
Position description: Reporting to the Country Representative, the successful candidate is expected to:
• Help design, set up, run and scale WASH- and development-relevant (online and offline) M & E systems that capture a rich set of data and are easy to use
• Work with WAN’s SMT to make better programmatic decisions based on the evidence collected from the field
• Train NGO partners and work with the counterparts in the broader WASH sector to strengthen relevant M & E systems, concepts and data
• Provide assurance about the quality and the robustness of the quantitative and qualitative data that are collected, interpreted, analysed presented and discussed
• Produce timely M & E reports that will be shared with all relevant stakeholders
• Develop tools that measure the functionality of WASH schemes, sustainability parameters of WASH projects and aspects of community competence to assess value for money
• Help ensure that WAN meets all its stated aims, goals and commitments in ways that could be measured and shared
Essential skills and experiences
• A Master’s degree in relevant fields such as statistics, economics, computer applications, rural planning, public health, development studies, water and sanitation studies, etc
• A proven ability to collect, analyse, interpret and present data in ways non-technical audience can understand the most critical information
• A mindset that likes to solve problems by learning new tools and techniques, and by being persistent
• Able to initiate and complete projects without much supervision
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Nepali languages
• Previous work on M & E will add value
• Fluent in office-related computer skills

Position No 2 : Health Advocacy Officer
Level : 3
Line Manager : Research and Advocacy Manager, WAN
Duration : Two years with a probation period of six months
Duty Station : Kathmandu, with regular travel to partners’ offices and to project
sites
Required number: One
Position Description: Reporting to Research and Advocacy Manager, the successful candidate is expected to:
Assist the Manager in the preparation of health advocacy programme planning and monitoring
Work with relevant government and social institutions to make demonstrably positive changes happen in the domains of WASH and public health Assist NGO partners in health advocacy programme planning and monitoring; and
Produce case studies, data sheets and learning documents for advocacy purposes
Essential skills and experiences
A degree in public health or a related discipline;
A minimum of three years of relevant work experience in public health with a focus on advocacy
An ability to synthesize complex information into concise and compelling policy briefing notes and advocacy documents.
A clear understanding of how key actors act and interact in the domain of public health in Nepal, and how that understanding could be used for effective advocacy work
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Nepali languages Fluent in office-related computer skills Committed to WaterAid’s values.
