ICTJ is seeking a Full Time Program Officer for its Nepal Office. The primary responsibility of this position is to support strategy development and to design, implement and monitor project activities. This position will be based in Kathmandu and on an 8-month contract to 31 December 2013, with the possibility of extension, depending on performance and availability of funding. This position reports to the Head of Office ICTJ-Nepal.
PROGRAM OFFICER- 1
Job Responsibilities;
► Contribute to strategy development and project design in support of ICTJ's work on transitional justice in Nepal.
► Initiate and/or support the design, organization and follow-up of meetings, conferences, seminars,workshops and other activities on transitional justice.
► Coordinate with ICTJ partners, including NGOs and victim groups throughout the country for the purposes of information-sharing, implementing joint activities, monitoring and reporting.
► Develop and sustain partnerships with local civil society and authorities in strengthening local initiatives in the transitional justice arena.
► Coordinate and otherwise support monitoring, research and analysis of transitional justice issues in Nepal.
► Contribute to drafting ICTJ external documentation including policy briefs, research reports and media statements.
► Support timely completion of internal progress reports and donor reports as required.
► Supervise and manage the work of external consultants in specific projects.
► Provide support to other program activities as required, including through travel to districts in support of activity implementation.
Qualifications:
The Program Officer will possess the following qualifications:
• Minimum of a Master’s degree in social sciences or other relevant field, preferably in law,with preference given to experience in an international organization.
• Knowledge of key developments relating to transitional justice in Nepal.
• At least 4 years demonstrable experience of working in the field of human rights and/or transitional justice.
• Proven ability to develop and implement human rights or transitional justice research, advocacy, capacity building or similar projects.
• Excellent analytical and report writing skills.
• Fluent oral and written English.
• Solid organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in a fastpaced working environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
• Flexible and committed to teamwork; experience working in a team with people from different communities preferred.
