Rural Development Service Center (RDSC), a Doti based NGO having contact office in Kathmandu, requires to fulfill the following short term positions to work for Vegetable Farming for Income Generation along the Dadeldhura- Dipayal Road Corridor in Doti district of Nepal. This project is being implemented since July 16, 2011 with the financial support (90% of total) received from the Embassy of Finland and is planned to conclude by July 15,2013.
1. Short Term Consultant (for multiple tasks)
Qualification/experience: At least Masters degree in Economic (preferably Agricultural Economics)/at least 10 years of work experience in managing social science research and training activities, proposal writing, report writing and other skills/experience in project results documentation and dissemination. Expected period of involvement: About 3.5 months
Main tasks to be performed: preparation of project completion report, periodic/trimester progress report and TOR for the impact assessment study; supervision and monitoring of the conduct of impact assessment study report and its review; training program design; preparation of briefing/debriefing notes; and other similar tasks as agreed upon between the Consultant and RDSC Chairperson.
2. Short Term Consultant (for Impact Assessment Study)
Qualification/experience: At least Masters degree in Economics or Agricultural Economics, Agriculture or similar other discipline/at least 15 years of work experience in performance/impact assessment studies; field surveys; project design and implementation; and report writing along with its documentation and dissemination.
Expected period of involvement: About 1.5 months including field visits
Main tasks to be performed: Preparation and submission of proposal as per given TOR; conduct of impact assessment studies as per proposal/TOR and submit the report in the given format and forms (hard copies, electronic copies etc.)
3. Botanist as Short Term Consultant (for the study of Poulmonia tree)
Qualification/experience: At least B. SC. in Botany/at least 15 years of experience in the plantation of various tree in Nepal.
Expected period of involvement: About one month including field visits
Main tasks to be performed: Assessment of growth of poulmonia trees planted in different altitudes in Doti district as compared to the development of this plants recorded in Kailai and districts of Kathmandu valley. The consultant will have to make field visits to assess the status of poulmonia plantation in the districts; prepare reports and suggest measures for improvement.
4. Admin/Account Officer
Qualification/experience: At least BBS pass and knowledge about government financial/audit rules/regulations/at least five years of experience in handling project accounts and having experience experience in using NAVISION software.
Expected period of involvement: About 3.5 months
Main tasks to be performed: Handling of project accounts as per the government financial rules/regulations and financial guidelines prescribed in the Project Agreement signed between the RDSC and embassy of Finland; get financial expenditures and income audited; prepare periodic financial reports to be submitted to the embassy of Finland and other relevant agencies; and perfrom other tasks as and when required.
5. Short Term Consultant (Vegetable Production Expert)
Qualification/experience: At least B.SC. Ag./at least five years of experience in providing technical assistance in seasonal and off season vegetable production in Nepal.
Expected period of involvement: About 2 months
Main tasks to be performed: Provide technical knowledge/advice to the project beneficiaries in the production of seasonal and offseason vegetables in the project locations; advises them on how to prevent the vegetables from insects and other diseases, grading, storage and packaging of vegetables etc. The consultant will specifically contribute to solve any technical problems the beneficiaries encounter in the production, storage, transportation and sale of their vegetable produce.
