The Ministry of Agriculture Development (MoAD) is implementing the High Value Agriculture Project in Hills and Mountain Areas (HVAP) with financial support from International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in partnership with SNV Netherlands Development Organisation and the Agro Enterprise Centre (AEC) of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The project aims to integrate poor people in rural areas especially women and marginalised groups in high value chains and markets for improved income, employment opportunities and ability to respond to market demand and opportunities based on marketing agreements with private agribusinesses. As an implementing partner and a technical support provider, SNV Nepal is responsible for the implementation of pro-poor value chain development.

Value Chain Development Advisor vacancy code 2013-05
The major accountability of Value Chain Development Advisor will be to (i) strengthen backward and forward linkages in the selected value chains (ii) support value chain actors in business planning, investment analysis and other areas that lead to improved performance of the value chain system, and (iii) contribute to knowledge development, networking and sharing strategy, and support PMU staff in implementation of pro-poor value chain development activities.
Requirements
• Master degrees in Business Administration, Agribusiness, Agricultural Marketing or Agricultural Economics;
• At least 5 years' relevant experience with reputed organisations, preferably private sector or international development organisation;
• Sound experience in financial (investment) service provision and supply chain development;
• Experiences that demonstrate creativeness. Innovativeness and entrepreneurial skills;
• Experience in facilitating communication to work towards reliable, fair, trust based long-term relationships and or contracts;
• Excellent spoken and written English.
The position is based in Surkhet with frequent visits to the field in remote districts. The person will be part of a team of 7 advisors. Female candidates and candidates from marginalised and minonty groups are encouraged to apply and are given special preference.
