A bilaterally-funded project aiming to reduce poverty through income generation and growth for poor and disadvantaged people in the agricultural and other rural markets of Nepal, is seeking applications from dynamic, energetic, motivated, result-oriented promising candidates with strong analytical skills for the following Kathmandu based portfolios, however, with extensive travel in Nepal:
Capacity Building (CB) Manager -1 Position
The CB Manager is a senior portfolio, and s/he will be responsible for developing the programme’s strategy to enhance the capacity for effective propoor market development and implementation of the strategy targeting key stakeholders, including the Government of Nepal, development agencies. NGOs and consulting organisations in Nepal.
Specifically, the CB Manager will be responsible for:
• Supporting development of strong and effective working relationships between the programme and key stakeholders
• Developing other initiatives that contribute to informing and influencing key stakeholders
• Managing capacity development initiatives among key stakeholders
• Overseeing the effective rollout of the Project Team Learning Strategy
• Preparing regular progress updates, including reporting, verbal reports and monitoring progress against the results chain The CB Manager should possess:
• At least a master’s degree in economics, agribusiness, development studies, business management finance and accounting, marketing or other relevant disciplines
• At least 5 years work experience in the development sector in a managing position involving coordination with various stakeholders and demonstrates networking abilities. Preferably in projects related to private sector development, with a specific focus on market development, business development services, or value chain improvement
• Experience in developing strategies to inform, influence and develop capacity among stakeholders
• Experience in the areas of networking, advocacy and/or capacity development
• Ability to develop/manage innovative initiatives and mature approach to stakeholder relationship management
Gender and Social Inclusion (GSI) Analyst -1 Position
The pro-poor market development approach is aimed at developing opportunities for poor women and men, particularly those from excluded and disadvantaged groups. The GSI Analyst is a mid-level portfolio, and s/he will be responsible for implementation of the programme's GSI strategy and analysis of assigned sectors).
Specifically, the GSI Analyst will be responsible for:
• Implementing the programme's GSI strategy by providing advice and technical backstopping during the development of programme interventions, implementations and result management
• Developing capacity across the programme on GSI, including implementing partners
• Support the programme's outreach and networking activities to ensure GSI issues are fully incorporated
• Undertaking intervention design and delivery work, like sector analysis, development of result chains, work plans and budgets, and lead the implementation of interventions.
• Identifying suitable implementing partners and service providers, and managing related agreements for the assigned sector(s)
The GSI Analyst should possess:
• At least a bachelor's degree in gender studies, social sciences, development studies or other relevant disciplines
• At least 2 years of experience working in a GSI related field, preferably for donor-funded private sector development programmes
• Experience in delivering capacity building on GSI
• Knowledge of GSI in agriculture and rural development in Nepal
• Strong communication skills, ability to transfer knowledge and to engage with a diversity of audiences
Results Measurement Analyst (RMA) -1 Position
The RMA is a mid-level portfolio, and s/he will be responsible for ensuring that monitoring and results measurement activities are well planned, resourced, and carried out. so that relevant and useful information is generated on intervention performance.
Specifically, the RMA will be responsible for:
• Ensuring that all interventions are designed in compliance with the programme's standards, including supporting development of all results chains and a Measurement Plan
• Advising implemented on attribution strategies, baselines and survey designs
• Validating programme data, tracking internal assessments, carrying out evaluations and impact assessments
• Ensuring complete and timely reporting by project teams, supporting in running meetings and strategic reviews, preparing case studies and programme results tracking sheet
The RMA should possess:
• At least a bachelor's degree in social sciences, rural development or other relevant disciplines
• At least 2 years of experience working in M&E for development programmes at HQ/central level
• Proven experience in research and data collection, including survey design and using mixed methods
• Strong analytical skills, ability to transfer knowledge and to coordinate with diverse stakeholders
Sector Analyst (SA) - 2 Positions
The SA is a mid-level position, and s/he will be involved in facilitation, development, management and oversight of interventions in particular focal subsectors. The Sector Analyst will be responsible for implementing the results chains developed for each sector intervention and supporting the programme in delivering the results.
Specifically, the SA will be responsible for:
• Producing sector analysis and intervention concept notes
• Supporting development of result chains, design of baselines and monitoring performance
• Developing work plans and budgets for each intervention
• Identifying opportunities for expansion
• Managing external researchers and consultants
• Undertaking stakeholder analysis and ensuring stakeholder engagement
• Identifying implementing partners and service providers, and manage the related agreements
• Participating in review meetings, preparing monthly financial reports, quarterly reports, case studies and research papers
• Representing the programme at relevant forums and meetings
The SA should possess:
• At least a bachelor's degree in economics, agribusiness, development studies, business management, finance and accounting, marketing or other relevant disciplines
• At least 2 years of experience working in a field relevant to private sector development, preferably with a specific focus on market development, business development services, or value chain improvement
• Experience of stakeholder engagement: developing partnerships and managing relationships with donors, NGOs, private sector consultancies and government
• Financial management and reporting skills
• Strong analytical skills, leadership and ability to facilitate stakeholder workshops
