Job Title: Leadership Development Manager (LDM)

Reports To: Director of Training and Support

Job Purpose:
Teach for Nepal is placing 30 outstanding university graduates as Fellows to teach Math/English/ Science in public schools. Program Managers manage, support, mentor, and train about 15 Fellows and will be responsible for the development and growth of Fellows into effective leaders and teachers in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Hold Fellows accountable for students making academic and non-academic achievement in classrooms,
• Plan and coordinate professional development trainings for Fellows,
• Provide support to Fellows who are struggling to meet their fellowship commitments,
• Observe the classes to understand classroom issues and have follow-up conversations to plan and strategize for immediate improvement,
• Conduct training workshops at the Training Institute and ongoing professional development training series,
• Work with school management and teachers to integrate Fellowship Program into school improvement plan. Support schools in professional development, teachers development policy, and/or training when requested,
• Collaborate and work with school management team, other schoolteachers, and school resource persons in the local area,
• Guide and support Fellows as they design and implement community projects,
• Provide regular progress updates to the Director of Training and Support on issues that arise, such as retention risk and Fellows struggling in classroom in order to assist in the improvement of training and support systems,
• Spend time analysing stories, notes, feedback from Fellows about the situations happening – reflection on what’s happening in classroom and use it as a guide to create strategies for Fellow improvement,
• Collaborate with other program managers across the network to share best practices that can enhance the entire cohort as well as connect Fellows to resources in order to develop solutions to their instructional challenges,
• Actively engage in weekly training team meetings: providing feedback from fellows on 
what’s happening in classrooms/schools and finding solutions to help them,
• Aggregate common themes among fellows in group and discuss with training team on broader 
approaches,
• Pro-actively identify psychological and adjustment related challenges of the Fellows and provide support & guidance.

Other Responsibilities:
• Work with Recruitment and Selection team to devise best selection criteria and identify the best candidates for the Fellowship Program,
• Support other aspects of the program when required.

Competencies:
• Demonstrates deep commitment and understanding of TFN’s mission and Theory of Change,
• Results-oriented, ability to work with data, strategic and critical thinker, ability to prioritize and give equal effort and attention to multiple projects,
• Ability to creatively solve problems, mediate conflicts, negotiate and communicate assertively in Nepali and English,
• Ability to listen carefully and provide meaningful advice and guidance,
• Ability to lead a team towards meeting the larger mission of TFN– to inspire, to create a culture of success, and build a relationship of mutual trust.

Requirements:
• Minimum Masters degree required,
• Minimum of three years experience in teaching English/Math/Science in secondary school, preferably in public/community schools or experience in training teachers,
• An ideal candidate would also have working experience in/with rural communities, with good insights into public education systems and the challenges and opportunities of low-income, under-resourced government school,
• Knowledge of pedagogies, learning theories and teaching tools and techniques,
• Strong computer competency in Word, Excel, and Power Point,
• Ability and willingness to travel frequently in Teach for Nepal target placement schools/communities,
• Given the position requires frequent travels to schools in rural villages, access to personal motorcycle/vehicle and driving license would be an additional asset. In some cases LDMs would have to walk long distances to reach placement schools

Location: The position is based in TFN placement region. For the first year, the region will be Lalitpur district. However, the working region might change as Teach for Nepal expands to other districts in coming years.
Salary: Based on Teach for Nepal policies, which are competitive to national level NGOs in Nepal.
