Room to Read seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in developing countries by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Currently, we work in 11 countries of Asia and Africa.
In Nepal, we believe that the change is possible if our children became educated. If we develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children, and support girls to complete secondary school with the relevant life skills to succeed in school and beyond, we can achieve our desired change in Nepal. Being inspired with this notion, as of now, we. together with our partners, have helped to establish over 3400 school libraries for creating a reading habit of children, published 231 children books for quality materials to read, constructed 495 schools to improve school environments and supporting reading & learning skill development in 80 schools. In addition, we have also been providing financial, material, academic & life skills education support to 2720 girls from underprivileged families to complete secondary education and beyond.
