VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) British Red Cross Society (BRC) is looking for a Programme Officer and Finance/Admin Officer to be based in its Nepal office in Kathmandu.
The IFRC is the world's largest humanitarian organization providing assistance without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious belief, class of political opinion. The office's role is to support Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) in delivering humanitarian services to the most vulnerable. More information on the organization can be obtained from www.ifrc.org
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure the planning and implementation of BRC funded programmes in Nepal are done as per BRC programmatic standards.
• Ensure that all projects/programmes fulfill the reporting requirements (quality and time) as per donor/BRC policies and procedures.
• Contribute to the design of new projects/programmes including initial assessments, data collection, proposal writing, etc.
• Provide regular written reports on activitiesand supported projects progress
Professional/Personal Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in social science/management or other relevant disciplines and at least 5 years work experience in a similar position OR Master's degree in social science/management or other relevant disciplines and at least 3 years work experience in a similar position
• Experience of working in a programme/project management role (either in disaster or development related programmes) within bilateral or multilateral donor programmes
• Experience of producing narrative reports in English for donors
• Experience in participatory methods and in monitoring projects
• Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, database, e-mail).
• Excellent written and verbal skills in English and Nepali
• Excellent networking, facilitation and coordination skills
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee the maintenance/reconciliation (daily/monthly) of the cash and bank account (manually/software).
• Provide monthly cash summary, bank reconciliations, general ledger reports.
• Coordinate with finance team in compiling the quarterly finance reports and donor reports.
• Maintain an audit trail of all documentation related to financial management.
• Ensure procurement of project materials, as per standard procurement procedure.
• Provide administrative support to the programme.
Professional/Personal Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Studies and 5 years' experience in a similar position OR Master's Degree in Accounting or Business Studies and 2 years' experience in a similar position
• Good command of English with experience in producing written financial documents for donors
• High level computer skills including proficiency in MS-Word and Excel
• Knowledge and experience in using SUN systems or any other PC based Accounting Software Packages
• Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Strong HR management and communication skills
• Significant working experience in the humanitarian assistance sector or in the Red Cross /Red Crescent Movement
